The gang of Yamla Pagla Deewana is back once again to take you on the fun repleted ride. The first installment of YPD came in 2011 was extraordinarily hilarious while the second one, which came in 2013, was merely a caricature of its predecessor. Let us find out what the fresh piece of this series by the Deol family really has something fresh to offer or not.
Pooran (Sunny), who is an Ayurveda practitioner in Amritsar, lives with his family and brother Kaala (Bobby). Pooran cures the poor with the help of ‘Vajrakavach’, a well-known remedy, which can cure all ills while Kaala lingers around money and this makes him desperate to throw out his longtime tenant, lawyer Parmar (Dharmendra) from his house as Parmar is not paying the actual rent.
Things take a turn when Marfatia (Mohan Kapoor), owner of a pharmaceutical company in Gujrat, tries to persuade first Pooran and then Kaala to acquire the formula of the magical medicine ‘Vajrakavach’, but fails and gets solid punches by the bros in return. Then a honey-trap is set up for Kaala in the form of Cheeku (Kriti Kharbanda) who deceives Kaala and steals the formula and hands it over to Marfatia who gets the patent done and sends a legal notice to Pooran and family accusing them to misuse his patented formula and a full courtroom drama occurs.
Screenplay and Dialogue
Penned by Dheeraj Rattan, the story of Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se may not be unique but the amount of laughter is well-stocked, especially some solid punches by Sunny and Bobby and the courtroom drama. The chemistry between the Deol brother and Pa turns the film into a sapid chunk. However, the fun moments could have been more to keep the audience engaged throughout the film.
Dialogues by Bunty Rathore, although become repetitive in many instances, but support the whole drama pretty well. Special mention, the sequence between the Lawyer Parmar and the Judge Shatrughan Sinha. You really enjoy the whole conversation between the veteran actors. Salman Khan’s friendly appearance along with Rekha and Sonakshi is like a fine topping on the cake.
As the script lacks novelty, but the direction saves it to some extent. The narrative style is quite simple doesn’t confuse the audience at all. The editing could have been crisper.
Sunny as an Ayurveda physician once again packs a solid punch of performance and leaves the audience in splits not only with his acting but also with the action stunts like squeezing a steel glass, breaking the corner of a pillar with his rock-solid jab. Bobby gets the larger space during the whole film and makes most out of it. Although, repetitive dialogues reduce the charm of his timing but he seems to be in the full form after the whopping success of Race 3. Dharmendra is the most surprising element who could churn out an applauding performance even at this age. Kriti Kharbana completes the element of glamor in the film and she has her moments as well. Mohan Kapoor and other characters also lend a decent support to the lead cast.
Music by Sanjeev-Darshan, Sachet-Parampara, Vishal Mishra and D Soldierz could not really strike the spark as expected. YPD3’s music can be the weakest part of the film and you hardly remember any song except Raft-Rafta, which has been kept with end titles.
Why Should I Watch?
Join the gang of YPD Phir Se if you are a die-hard fan of the Deols. The film has been presented as a family entertainer and surely lives up to its promise. Salman Khan’s entry as Deewana will be like a fresh gust on your face in the end.
Box Office Prediction of Yamla Pagala Deewana Phir Se
Although, the film has taken a slow start at the box office, but it’s expected that the film will do well on the weekend and does a fair business especially in the North circuit where the die-hard followers of Sunny and the family exist and will surely go for this laughter filled ride.
