Vishawaroop 2 Falls Way Short to Meet Its Prequel’s Charisma

After 5 years of Vishwaroop 1, Kamal Hasan presents its sequel, which has the same patriotic and flag-waving flavor to offer. However, unlike V1, which invited many controversies due to its title and some other religious matters, the latest installment of this action-thriller has not yet put itself in anything of that sort, and that is something worth applauding in today’s era. So, what’s new does it have. Let’s find out.

The sequel begins from where the RAW agent Major Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri (Kamal Haasan) comes out of the mission of Al-Qaida. He immediately takes up another mission where he has to end terrorism spread by Umar Qureshi (Rahul Bose). This endeavor paves a way for the introduction of many dangerous as well as different folks and circumstances, which really make Wisam go through a tough time. However, Wisam anyhow has to save London and New Delhi from being bombed and turned into a wreckage.

Review of vishwaroop 2

A number of other characters like Wisam’s wife Nirupama (Pooja Kapoor), his mother (Waheeda Rehman), Colonel Jagannath (Shekhar Kapoor) also get introduced as the story starts taking strides. After confronting many ups-and-downs, does Wisam succeed to stop Qureshi? All form the crux of the film?

Screenplay and Dialogue

Penned by Kamal Haasan himself, each part of the screenplay is poorly connected; therefore, fails to convince the audience, especially when the narrative takes rakish leaps from one continent to another, and finally, it makes to the populated streets of old Delhi. Although, the character of Wisam is strongly projected, but that too fails to do justice to a loosely written screenplay. Some of the dialogues are really clap-worthy like ‘main mazhab ke liye nahin mulk ke liye khoon bahata hoon.’

Helmed by Kamal Haasan, the direction of the film cannot be blamed as the story itself has many loopholes. Overall, Kamal Hasan’s direction could have been exceptional if the script of the film had some potential.

The music of Viswaroopam 2 is fine. The Hindi Version has four songs out of those two (Ishq Kiya Toh and Tu Srotu Hai) are slow in mood while the other two are the title track; Viswaroopam. However, the special mention here is its background score, which really amplifies the element of thrill.

All the characters, although, have reprised their roles as the members of a covert mission, but none of them except Wisam looks convincing. The gorgeous lady gang is only restricted to ask obvious and never-ending questions. Moreover, they seem to be there just to find the bugs in various hotels’ rooms. Looking at the range of Pooja Kumar, who is a nuclear oncologist, it can be said that she is surely underused and should deserve more space.

Why Should I Watch?

Vishwaroopam 2 is stuffed with all that make a spy-thriller action film; guns, bombs, cars, helicopters, grenades, and gore, but the spirit which keeps the audience engrossed and make them dumbfound in the end, is missing somewhere.

Sorry, but we don’t recommend it even to the die-hard fans of Kamal Haasan. Go for it at your own risk folks.
