Vick Kaushal starrer Uri-The Surgical Strike is not only the first hit film of 2019 but also the first blockbuster as well as the first film to enter the coveted 100 cr club this year. Interestingly, the film has done this miracle in mere done. We are tagging it as a miracle because although the people were surely expecting quality content out of it but no one expected from this film to have such an exceptional run at the box office and bag 100 cr in its second week of release. Uri joins 100 cr club on Sunday (20 Jan) and proved its mettle at the box office. The film is still the first choice of the moviegoers despite being in its second week.
The way Uri was trending right from its first day, it made clear that the film is going to be a big hit. It bagged kick-start its journey with a bang on Friday bagging a missive sum of ₹ 8.20 cr. Such figure might not seem big for many but let us tell you that this a mid-budget film and earning more than ₹ 8 cr is impressive for a film of such a stature. This did not stop here and Uri had even the blasting weekend and earned ₹ 35.73 cr on the weekend and turned out to be the first hit of the year.
Moreover, it kept its hold strong even on weekdays and earned a big total on its first Monday that were more than Friday. It earned ₹ 10.51 cr on Monday and the growth was exceptional: Sat [vis-à-vis Fri]: 51.59% and Sun [vis-à-vis Sat]: 21.48%. This how it fared in its first week:

Released on 11 January, Uri is based on the true event of Surgical Strike Indian Army did by entering the POK and destroying terrorists and their camps located in the area. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri also stars Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari and Mohit Raina in pivotal roles.
