Salman Khan’s Sultan had hit the theatres of China a week ago but unlike Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the movie failed to live up to the expectations and performed miserably at the Chinese Box Office. It’s day one collection was a sum of USD $ 940,000 (about ₹ 6.66 crores in Indian rupees) and faced further declined in the coming days.
The film had collected $ 430,000 on Monday, $ 400,000 on Tuesday, $ 370,000 on Wednesday & $ 310,000 on Thursday, reaching to a grand total of $ 4.53 million (₹ 32.53 crores in Indian rupees) and the figures saw a continues fall each passing day. This is the poorest performance by a Salman starer ever, be it anywhere around the world!
On the contrary, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which released in China earlier this year, received a good response and collected USD $ 2.26 million on its first day. If Sultan is put neck-to-neck with the collections of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the former is collecting mere peanuts.
Salman Khan starer and Yash Raj Films produced Sultan broke all box office records after the released in India in 2015 and became an all-time blockbuster and the highest grosser for Salman. Then the makers thought of releasing it in China. It hit the theatres on 31st August with a lot of expectations but unfortunately, against all expectations, the film fails to shine at the Chinese box office.
