Pagalpanti Rating: ½
Pagalpanti Director: Anees Bazmee
Pagalpanti Cast: John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Saurabh Shukla, Illiana D’Cruz, Kriti Kharband, Urvashi Rautela, etc.
Flaunting a rich career, which spans over 5 decades, Anees Bazmee came under the spot light after his romantic-comedy Pyaar to Hona Hi Tha. Thereafter, films like No Entry, Welcome, and Ready added feathers to his lavish cap while is last a few attempts like Welcome Back and Mubarakan failed to ignite that charm Anees is known for. However, despite a few slip-ups, Anees has accumulated strength again and bounced back with his latest comedy. We will figure out in this Pagalpanti review that till what extent this new comedy has been able to delight the audience.
Raj Kishore (John) is so out-of-luck that his bad luck eclipses others’ luck. His friends Junky (Arshad) and Chandu (Pulkit) have already lost their wealth due to Raj and to seek some help they stumble upon gangsters Raja (Suarabh Shukla) and WiFi Bhai (Anil Kapoor) who hire all three to confront Tuli and Buli, the other gangsters duo. Raj loves Sanjana (Ileana D’Cruz), Junky loves Kavya (Urvashi) , and Chandu falls head over heels for Jhanvi (Kriti Kharbanda). Raja and WiFi want to recover their damage using this trio unaware of the fact that bad luck follows wherever these three head to.
Screenplay and Dialogues
Pagalpanti screenplay is repleted with several sub-plots without clarifying much about it. However, the Anees Bazmee with his co-writers has tried too hard to mingle, but they yet remain sporadic. Therefore, the screenplay never appear to wholesome enough that can make an impact.
Some dialogues of Pagalpanti have weight but rest are just lame and tries too hard to make you laugh but fall flat on their face.
It’s hard to accept that Anees Bazmee, who has deliver some really delightful comedies, turns out to be so shallow. He has grip over his craft and that’s about it. The script is so weak that it hardly allowed the director to go above it.
Despite not being his forte, John is somewhat better than what he had done in his previous attempts in comical roles. Arshad Warsi and Suarabh Shukla emerges the diamonds from the coal mine. Their timing is accurate and really brings a broad smile. Anil Kapoor is a miscast while Pulkit has nothing to shout about. All the hot girls have been called for filling up the glamour quotient of this crap.
None of the songs is hit despite trying too hard. Even the makers remixed the ‘Tum Par Hum Hai Atke’. It’s not even the parody of the original version.
Why Should You Watch?
We do not see any reason to recommend you this. Better watch IND vs BAN match and enjoy the Pink Ball Test Match.
