Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½
Right after its trailer release, De De Pyaar De made a massive buzz and the moviegoers were desperate for its release because what the trailer of De De Pyaar De suggested was nothing but a never depicted before triangle underling the agony of the shattered relationships. Let’s dissect in this De De Pyaar De De review whether it packs a comic punch or ends in smoke.
A 50-year-old startup investor Ashish (Ajay) lives in London alone but has his family settled back in India. One day, he meets and falls in love with Ayesha (Rakul), who is half of his age. Things take an awkward turn when Ashish comes back to India with Ayesha and introduces her to his ex-wife (Tabu) and children as his secretary.
Screenplay and Dialogues
The Pyaar Ka Panchnama 1&2 and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety fame director Luv Ranjan has penned down this remarkably outstanding screenplay, which stacks laughter and sheer laughter. The initial 15-20 minutes might not tickle you, but once it comes on the track and picks up the pace, it brings the house down with laughter.
Full credit to Luv who has woven characters, situations, punches of laughter and emotions seamlessly. Nothing seems packed intentionally. Zolly twists and turns and the characters stuck up in them tickle your ribs every now and then.
Actor turned editor turned director Akiv Ali proves his sturdy grip over the craft. Although, you can clearly see the omnipresent influence of Luv Ranjan who is not only the writer of the film but also the co-producer. Akiv’s editing is crisp and fast-paced. The background score of the film also enhances the whole impact. Overall, distinction marks to him for executing such a challenging script well and offering a pure rom-com with a frantic dose of a sheer laugh.
Although, Ajay Devgn plays his true age as Ashish, but the elevated touch he gives to the character ensures you that this character was meant for him only. Especially at one instance when he is at the verge of getting physical with Rakul, the blend of love and lust displayed in his eyes blows your mind.
Tabu, although joins the gang right before the interval, but binds you with her spell and puts up a meticulously brilliant performance as an ex. Rakul brings a lot of freshness and energy to the cast as well as to the entire plot. She looks hot. This film will put her in the category of Taaspee Pannu and Bhumi Pendrekar. Javed Jaffrey is outstanding in a brief but significant role. Jimmy Shergill, Alok Nath, Kumud Mishra, Sunny Singh Nijjar, etc lend fair support.
Why Should You Watch?
Missing it will be a SIN guys! Just run for it. Take your love interest along, I guarantee you come out of the show with a mature opinion on many aspects of relationships. Thanks to Akiv.
